| After
a successful career, International showjumper Arturo
8 has been retired to stud. Arturo 8 damaged a tendon while
competing in January 2003, although now fully recovered the owners
High Offley Stud have decided the risk of further injury while competing
at top level is too great. Arturo 8 (Arthur
as he is affectionately known) is a favorite at the yard and will
stand at the Stud in Staffordshire.
For
the previous 12 months prior to his injury Arturo
8 was competed in the U.K. by Geoff Glazzard and Geoff Billington,
winning and being placed in many International trials and Grand
Prix’s. Arturo 8 began his career
in Germany where he finished 4th in the Hamburg jumping Derby before
being sold to America. In America he was competed by Candice King,
winning and being placed in many large classes including the Tommy
Bahama Challenge and The World Equestrian Federation Challenge.
Arturo
8 is a Holstein Stallion with excellent breeding lines. He inherited
his jumping ability from both his father Athlet
Z and mother Wodka who is by Lord, who
have both bred other International horses.
His
progeny are proving to be outstanding in all spheres. He has offsprings
competing Internationally in showjumping and eventing and his first
season foals in the U.K have won several showing classes on the
county circuit.
Arturo
8 is one of the finest breeding stallions in the U.K and we
look forward to his new career at stud.
